This was not really an exciting movie for me overall. Hunter X Hunter is one of the best anime series of all time. Well, for me that is. But I am pretty sure it ranks high up on the best anime list.
It has been quite a long time since I saw a good episode or movie of it. The best fight in the series was when Killua's dad and grandfather were ordered to assassinate the head of the Phantom Troupe, but was cut short because orders were changed. That was a pretty good fight indeed.
And since there has not been a continuation of the series so far, I expected the Phantom Rouge movie to be also good. Well, not quite. So much talk, but less fight.
The plot revolves around a former member of the Phantom Troupe that Hisoke as #4 replaced. It seemed this time, the former #4 he killed was just a doll and he let him lived. And this is where the main stars find out he is the enemy they are dealing with, named Omokage.
So Omokage, the doll maker steals human eyes using his dolls for his collection. But even those dolls can be integrated with him and their nen abilities can be used for Omokage's offensive and defensive arsenal.
I won't go into details much regarding the story, you will have to watch it yourself or this will contain spoilers.
Again overall, this was just an okay movie. The fight scenes were not that exciting and great. The last part showed their final battle with the Omokage and his dolls and a brief appearance of all the Phantom Troupe members proved to be the longest fight scenes in the movie.
Still, it was good to watch Hunter X Hunter and refresh my memories about the series itself. I had forgotten about some of their abilities .
